In cases of different year frames and forks or fenders, hastily assembled to resemble an Old Harley, the buyer has acquired a pile of parts instead of an Old Harley. What he/she's acquired is worth exactly the total of the market value of each of its reusable pieces; reusable to make correct restorations of the years they belong to, I mean.

Years are being mixed together in bikes being "restored" of the Thirties, Forties, Fifties and Sixties that are no more than assemblies of parts that happen to fit together, but like nothing that ever rolled out of the factory in Milwaukee. -- Gerry
